Back To Basics

Hey friends. I thought it would be fun to share some tips on creating a Healthier You. If you are one who has never really worked out, or paid attention to what they eat, or maybe just got off track, I want to help inspire you. We all deserve to be our best self. That starts with us taking care of our mind, body, and soul. So, let’s get back to the basics of it all!

Drink enough water. At minimum, drink 8 glasses a day. Buy a Tervis, track your water intake on an app, whatever you need to remind you and hold you accountable.

Sleep enough. Your goal should be 7-8 hours. We need rest. Our bodies need time to recover. Life can get crazy, so always make enough time for sleep.

Get your heart rate up, and get active. 3-4 times a week, for at least 30 minutes at a time. It is important to keep our hearts healthy. So pick an activity you enjoy doing—weight lifting, yoga, running, biking, hiking, swimming, whatever it is…get up, get moving!

80/20 rule. Eat natural, unprocessed food 80% of the time. Make sure you are eating enough and not skipping meals. You don’t even have to start with counting calories. Focus first on eating foods that will keep you full, energized, and provide you the nutrients that you need.

Write. Get your thoughts out on paper. Stop carrying all of the weight and stress of life. This is something so basic that we tend to forget about, but it can do us a lot of good.

Laugh. Don’t take yourself, or this life, too seriously. Find moments to feel like a kid again. If you have kids, let them encourage and inspire you to be silly and fun. They are great at doing that. ?

We all have to start somewhere. Find joy in taking care of your body. It is not a punishment to nourish and care for it. Take pride in growing stronger. You’ll find that when you start doing these things, your energy will increase, your mood will be better and overall, and you will be happier with yourself!
